General Appearance

The Labradoodle started with one Australian breeder's attempt at creating an ideal service dog. Five to six breeds were used in developing the Australian Labradoodle whereas in the US only the Labrador Retriever and Poodle are used in the cross. Another difference between American and Australian Labradoodles is generational: the
American cross is usually first generation and backcrosses while the Australian is multi-generations of Labradoodle to Labradoodle. With both mixes, the dogs tend to be trainable and intelligent and low shedding. Coat type can vary.

Temperament

Like both parent breeds, Labradoodles are energetic, fun loving, and people oriented dogs. They do very well with children and other animals. They learn quickly and retain what they have learned. They also love the water!
